What is Italian channeling? The detail behind our textured kitchens

If you’ve seen one of our textured kitchens or baths and wondered why the doors seem to hold the light differently, the answer is usually Italian channeling - a stained, textured finish that adds depth to an otherwise flat surface.

The technique works the grain so it’s raised and tactile, then stains it so the recesses read darker than the high points. The result is a door with real depth - quiet from across the room, but rich and hand-made up close. It pairs beautifully with alder, which takes the stain evenly.

It’s a finish that rewards craftsmanship, and one we’re known for. Done well, it’s the difference between a cabinet that looks made and one that looks manufactured.
